I am officially insane

I just registered for the IronGirl Triathlon.

Once the panic dissipates, I will gently remind myself that yes, I can do this, I'll need to work hard for it, but I Can Do This.

1K swim: Well, I'm out of practice, but I could do this. When I was swimming 3 times a week.
30K bike: That shouldn't be too bad. That's the kind of outing we might do as a family on the weekend. Over the course of a whole day.
5K run: No problem, I do that for a typical morning workout. Of course, I'd be doing this after a 1K swim and 30K bike ride...

I've been keeping an exercise log, filtered to interested people. I guess now would be a good time to ask if you'd like to be added to the filter.

Eep!

Yay! You rock! I'd love to be filtered in please :)

Triathlons are so much fun. It'll be awesome!

fwiw, I think they're somewhat easier than "sum of its parts" might suggest. The swim is a great warm-up, the biking is just plain fun, and the run... I do *not* like running usually, but somehow I can run a much faster 5K at the end of a triathlon than running a 5K all by itself. Must be all the great warm-up. :)

Wow, you've done one, too? Your advice and moral support will be much appreciated!

You know, while biking to work this morning I was entertaining myself by thinking about triathlon-training tips. :) I don't think I'll have a chance to do one this summer, but it did remind me how fun the whole enterprise can be.

And in the moral support (or ego-stroking) column: this one is longer (in swim and bike, at least) than most novice/sprint triathlons. Hmm, I guess they don't call it IronGirl for nothing...

It is a bit longer, but not Olympic length. Also, it's toward the end of the summer, so I have more time to train. I figure I have a bit of a leg up, so to speak, by being something of a runner, so I'm not too worried.
