Well, that massive proposal I submitted last spring has been denied funding.

Good thing I wasn't counting on this, because it would be a major blow to my ego, especially now as I'm applying for jobs...

...no, actually, it's a blow to my ego no matter which way you cut it.

Don't let it be too big a blow to your ego. Money was extremely tight in many pools this past year, and a lot of truly worthy science was denied funding.

I am aware of that, actually. I haven't yet received the reviews, just the notification of the result...
