Prophecy

There's a church near home that's had a large sign out front advertising its "Prophecy Seminar" during the month of March.

I suppose I could give it the benefit of the doubt, and assume that it's some kind of Bible study, perhaps focusing on Isaiah or some such and gleaning meaning from the passages.

But I can't help imagining some lecturer saying, "Now, the first rule is to make sure your prophecy is vague enough that you can claim it has come true no matter what the outcome..."

Okay, I'll be good now.

Ask [livejournal.com profile] dzm about the "Jesus is coming" story sometime. It's amusing.

spotted near my chiropracter's office:

a service called "Divine Intention," which I consistently mis-read as "Divine Intervention." If only! :)

So what does this service do?

"God says he can't do anything for you regarding that raise, but He'll keep the kids healthy, so long as you stop cheating on your wife. Oh, and He says you should pay me another $100."

I'm sorry, I said I'd be good and I failed.
