Meme, me?

I guess I'm obliged to propagate this meme now, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] chenoameg.

To quote [livejournal.com profile] chenoameg,
It's important to pick the right sources to ask for advice depending on what you need.

For example, La Leche League is a good place to ask the question "How can I make breastfeeding work?" and a lousy place to ask the question "Is breast feeding right for me?" (For those of you less interested than I am in human milk production, suffice it to say that most chapters of LLL are very pro-breast feeding.)

So here's the meme:
"First of all, answer this question in a comment to me if you're so inclined:
What sort of advice shouldn't you go to [livejournal.com profile] astra_nomer for? Or in other words, what advice would I never give?

"Second, ask the same question about you in your LJ, and answer it to the best of your abilities."

First off, I'm not going to count things that are considered inethical, since I don't think that's really specific enough. That said, here's the best I can come up with:

- I've always been at a loss about advice on affairs of the heart, i.e. how to win the man/woman of your dreams.
- Don't ask me for advice on landscaping/gardening. I have no knowledge and little interest.
- Don't ask me "how do I make my child smart and successful, like you?" I have actually been asked this several times! Heck if I know how to do it!

Thanks to some extreme foolhardiness involving lithium and a water bottle, my building was evacauted this afternoon. A small fleet of emergency vehicles pulled up (including a van labelled "special operations") and a number of firefighters wearing oxygen tanks and masks went in and out of the building. After being told that it would be "a while" before we'd be let back in, I decided to cut my losses and headed home, picking up DS1 en route. I wish I had been as clever as a couple of other people I saw, who had grabbed their laptops on their way out. At least I had my car keys. Lots of people had left purses, keys, backpacks, etc. in their offices and were unable to do much of anything.

I had fully intended to come home and try to get some more work done, but I ended up playing "baseball" with DS1. Ah well.
