Women in Academia
Dec. 20th, 2004 12:18 pmSaw this on the current issue of AASWOMEN:
"The current issue of Academe, the Bulletin of the American Association of
University Professors, has a series of articles about balancing faculty
careers and family work that may be of interest. Topics include: closing
the baby gap; how childbearing affects tenure; balancing work and family;
how a healthy balance of work and family life will attract better
professors; family-friendly policies and the research university; and
working part time after tenure. The full articles are available through
the AAUP website, at
www.aaup.org/publications/Academe/index.htm ."
I haven't read through all the articles yet, but the ones I read are really good. They give a lot of depressing statistics, yes, but they also try to suggest solutions to the problems.
