In no particular order:

  • Went to Boston with DS2 and stayed with [livejournal.com profile] remcat and [livejournal.com profile] chenoameg, consecutively.
  • Met up with my parents and brother and did most of the driving around town, because even though my brother is the one who now lives in the Boston area, I lived there longer and know the streets better.
  • Worked on a paper with collaborators and made good progress while [livejournal.com profile] remcat or [livejournal.com profile] chenoameg babysat.
  • Discovered that the Paper Of Doom (submitted over a year ago now) is on its third referee without much explanation from the editor.
  • Went to Walden Pond on one of the hottest days of the year with [livejournal.com profile] remcat and the clones, [livejournal.com profile] chenoameg, [livejournal.com profile] unequilibrated, [livejournal.com profile] 76trombones, and L.
  • Stayed up late socializing nearly every night. I swear I'm not an extrovert.
  • Got bumped to business class on our flight home. Nice for us, perhaps not so nice for business travelers unaccustomed to shrieking toddlers.
  • Slept nearly 11 hours Friday night after coming home, then took a morning nap Saturday morning.
  • Pulled off a birthday party for DS1 on Sunday.

I sent DS2 to daycare in underwear for the first time today. He didn't have any accidents! ...until this evening. Still, progress!

I got my bike back from the shop this weekend, and finally had a chance to take it out for a test spin this evening, mostly to teach myself how to stop and start with the toe clips. I didn't fall, and I'm starting to get the trick of slipping my feet in and out. I'm not sure I'm getting much power out of the up-stroke, but there's a noticeable improvement in efficiency because I'm spending less energy keeping my feet on the pedals and putting it into actual work. I also got a new pump since our old one kept popping off before it got to 40 psi, and my tires are rated at 40-60 psi. So between the toe-clips, higher tire pressure, and a good tune-up, my bike is riding a lot more smoothly!
