When in doubt, ask the internet
Oct. 13th, 2008 04:05 pmI've received an invitation to attend a symposium co-hosted by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and the US National Academy of Sciences.
The topics to be addressed are outside my research field, but it seems that the point is to get people from all sorts of fields to come together and synergize and whatnot. I would have the opportunity to present a poster. Also, it's all-expenses paid. To California. In December.
So do I go, or do I not? Pluses: it might look good on my CV and give me a chance to present my research to all sorts of brilliant people. Minuses: I have lots other things I could be doing with my time, like working on writing up one of the papers in my backlog or working on one of the current ones working on the New Big Project I have in mind.
