When it rains, it pours

I haven't done a whole lot of conference travel lately. I went to the AAS Meeting in January, but the last meeting I went to before that was in April and was here in Washington. Turns out that the conferences I've submitted abstracts to this year all seem to fall in June and July. So, knowing that travel money is scarce around here and that I'm not too keen on doing a whole lot of travel in such a short space of time, I prioritized the conferences I wanted to go to, met with the department chair on funding availability, picked my top three, and left the other two, both of which are overseas, at the bottom of the list.
One the top three relegated my abstract to a poster.
Of one of the bottom two: the day after the early registration deadline, the main conference organizer emailed me saying, hey wait, I thought you were coming! won't you please come? I'll make you an invited speaker!
Of the other on the bottom two: my abstract was selected for a 15-minute talk.
Well.
Much as I'd like to go to all these meetings, it depends on getting additional funding. Plus, I may never hear the end of it from DH & the kids. So, here I am, agonizing about whether or not I really want to go on business trips to the Caribean and Mediterranean, which means I'll probably get no sympathy from you dear readers.
