It's a jungle out there

astra_nomerSo I stayed up late last night reading. But that's not the whole reason I'm tired.
Part of it was that DS2 woke up several times in the night crying for no apparent reason. Probably bad dreams.
Part of it was the strange noises I heard intermittently through the night. I described it to DH as ripping duct tape, but that's not quite right. DH thought it sounded like a severely congested deer.
And there was also being jolted wide awake at 3am by thudding and scuffling and screams from the roof overheard. Our cats were safe and sound, but some creature died a painful death up there, probably a squirrel. There was no sign of anything this morning.
Who knew suburbia could be so exciting.
