astra_nomershort version: The good guys won!
long version:
I played in the semi-annual interdepartmental soccer game at my former place of work today. It was at least 90F, and for some reason, we all stood on the side of the field that wasn't shaded with trees. Earlier in the week, the team captain emailed me asking if I could play, and when I told my husband, he said, "you could say no." Silly husband. It's too much fun to miss out on - it's the two times a year I ever play soccer, after all. However, I may regret this all tomorrow morning when I find my body is too stiff to haul out of bed.
People complimented on my playing. Little do they realize that my MO consists entirely of "run down the opposing player and kick the ball to a teammate" because really, I have no ball-handling skills. I managed a head bump for the first time ever, though!
We won 5-3. And despite the trash-talking, I'm still friends with people on the opposing team.
