And you thought driving in Boston was bad
Dec. 10th, 2004 09:59 amOn my drive home from work, there is a sign that says "RIGHT TURN ON GREEN ARROW ONLY" which would be sensible if there were actually a right turn lane at that intersection.
So the way I would interpret that sign would be that you have to wait for the green arrow to come on if you want to turn right. But since the green light and green arrow are never on simultaneously, traffic would never move in the right lane since there would either be someone waiting to turn right or someone waiting to go straight there. So everyone ignores the sign.
It occurred to me the other day that perhaps I was mis-parsing the sign, and that really what it meant was that when the green arrow is on, you can only turn right. But since the green arrow only comes on during a red light, it's superfluous.
So I guess the sign is just there to confuse everyone.
