Still sick: the saga continues

So now I have an ear infection. And in 18 hours I will be on a plane to the West Coast.

I've become a real fan of Minute Clinic, because thanks to them I have antibiotics to take with me, despite it being a weekend. (They also did my strep test earlier in the week.)

Also: aren't you supposed to outgrow having ear infections at some point? Like my kids did?

I never had ear infections as a kid. Had five of them the summer after junior year, have had them intermittently since. Bleah! Glad you got antibiotics. Hope the flight isn't too bad.

Nope. I still get them a lot. Any time I have a sinus infection, there's a 50/50 chance I'll end up with an ear infection as well. It has something to do with blowing bacteria into your ear canals when you blow your nose.

Blech.

I hope you feel better before you have to get on the plane.

This might be TMI but...

I used to get the sinus+ear infection every few months and my doctor recommended doing the nasal irrigation thing with salt water daily. It has really cut down on sinus infections in the first place and now when I get them my ears stay ok. So if it's bugging you a lot that might be something to try...

Got my first ear infection ever about two years ago! Good luck with that plane ride... I hope your drugs keep the air-pressure-related pain down!

I had a mild (non-painful, but messed up my hearing) one a few weeks ago, which seems to be doing the rounds (Mr balances-things-on-his-head had it, but worse).

I'm glad I got the really serious ones out of the way as a kid. Those sucked and required surgery to correct (tubes to drain the gunk).
