A warning salvo

I wish I didn't have to be gracious when finding out that I'm not getting the job I applied for. Because really, what I want to say is,
"Yeah? Well, FUCK YOU TOO!"
...
I should warn those of you who may not be familiar with academic job cycles that I am going to be applying for jobs rather intensely this fall. I won't know the results of the job search until next spring. If I don't land a tenure-track job by then, I will likely be leaving astronomy. So yeah, I expect to be totally stressed out.
Heh, I just realized that I should have written this like a teaser for this fall's New Exciting Reality Series: "Who Wants to Be A Professor?"
- 100 Applicants, 1 Job. Who will make the cut?
- Clips of desperate postdocs schmoozing with Big Shots at conferences
- Will A/V problems totally ruin Astra's talk?
- "And the short list is...." [cue dramatic music]
- Screams of agony/triumph, as appropriate
Yeah. I can hardly wait.
