Last night, after the evening session, everyone repaired back to the poster area for beer and wine, just like the other nights. Except I ended up sitting with a group of other women, and somehow the topic got to "women's issues" and we had an extended and very interesting discussion about menstruation and birth control, right there in the midst of people sipping drinks and schmoozing away. How often does that happen at a conference in a male-dominated field?

No, neither did, though we did talk about Natural Family Planning, the Sponge, and ovarian cysts.
