Last night's snow has closed most of the area's schools, including DS1's preschool. So DS2's daycare provider graciously took in both boys for the day, and I'm at home, working. Well, right now I'm updating LJ, but you get the idea.
It's 9am now, and the skies have cleared and it's bright and sunny. Makes you wonder why they closed the schools. Until you drive around on the residential streets around here -- 2-3 inches of unplowed slush and ice. This includes the roads right around the school. So yeah, good call.

Date: 2005-12-09 10:55 pm (UTC)(Though hundreds of area schools closed here too (*but not mine*)-- it wasn't snowing when I woke up at 6, but we had an inch an hour later, and when I cut out of school after my last class to come home while it was still light, accumulation had dramatically outpaced the plows and visibility was close to zero. yikes.)
